Therefore, it is especially notable that the first stage of the Daugava Stadium reconstruction has been completed within the expected terms and not exceeding the funding provided,” said the Minister of Education and Science Kārlis Šadurskis.

“I am delighted that, in spite of the tight schedule, we have performed all the works at the Daugava Stadium as planned. The proportion of construction and renovation projects for educational, cultural and sports facilities in our country indicates to the healthy economy development and correct investment outlines for the future development. I do believe that this along with many other cultural and sports facilities will continue attracting young people in order to strengthen our society,” said the representative of the construction company PS LNK INDUSTRIES Partnership, Member of the Board of the LNK Group holding Davids Lipkins, expressing his satisfaction with what has been accomplished.

The first stage of the Daugava Stadium reconstruction, during which the Western Stand and its internal premises, with an area of over 5000 m2, were fully reconstructed, was started in April 2017. The new layout of the premises includes locker rooms for athletes, several sport and dancing halls, a gym, physiotherapy and medical offices, doping control premises, conference and exhibition halls, a recreation area, VIP premises and a media centre. The smart functionality of the internal premises allows ensuring not only a high quality training process and arranging international competitions in athletics and football, but also using the premises for the needs of different sport and cultural events on a daily basis. Having added the new Southern and Northern Stands, the number of spectator seats will be increased to 10 461, instead of the previous 5560, thus providing an opportunity for twice as much spectators to attend the Latvian Song and Dance Festival to be held this July already.

The elevated structure of the new stands will allow visitors to move freely beneath the stands, thus significantly facilitating the process of arranging cultural and sports events. For the first time in the history of the Daugava Stadium, an elevator has been built to ensure access to the top stands for persons with reduced mobility and mothers with baby strollers.

The construction project was developed, supervised and implemented by PS LNK INDUSTRIES Partnership for the total agreement amount of EUR 10,697,085.25. The construction supervision was provided by SIA P.M.G.
