The Academic Centre for Natural Sciences of the University of Latvia in Tornkalns constructed by LNK Industries has been recognized as the most sustainable building in 2017
The Academic Centre for Natural Sciences of the University of Latvia in Tornkalns constructed by the General Partnership „LNK Industries Group” was recognized in the competition as the most sustainable building in 2017.
The building of the Academic Centre for Natural Sciences of the University of Latvia in the competition was awarded the 1st place in the nomination „Most Sustainable Building in Latvia in 2017” – the customer – the University of Latvia, the project by “Sestais Stils”, the contractor - GP “LNK Industries Group”. The buildings commissioned at least a year ago and been able to withhold at least one heating season were named for this nomination.
Development of the technical design of the first round, construction and author’s supervision of the Academic Centre for Natural Sciences of the University of Latvia was carried out by the General Partnership “LNK Industries Group”, which was selected in the procurement procedure. The building was commissioned in September 2015, and it is the most modern higher education and science building in the Baltic States.
The purpose of the competition „The Most Sustainable Building and Project” is to search for and highlight the objects, the value whereof is in economic operation costs, sufficient volume of air circulation. Environment and people-friendly materials have to be used for the construction of the building. Slogan of the competition – sustainable=well-considered=justified.
The competition is being organized for the fifth consecutive year, and it has three nominations: “The Most Sustainable Building”, “The Most Sustainable Project”, “Most Sustainable Idea of Students”. Total of 17 applications were received this year – public buildings, private houses, student ideas, building conceptions, conceptions of buildings with especially considered solutions and use of “green technologies”.
